Huawei P70 series phones have been renamed “Huawei Pura70” and will soon be released

Huawei P-series smartphones are about to be released.

On the morning of April 15th, Huawei’s terminal Weibo posted three warm-up videos for the P70 series smartphones. It is worth noting that the phone name has been updated to “Huawei Pura70”.

In the video, Richard Yu, Executive Director of Huawei, CEO of Terminal BG, and Chairman of Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU, announced that today Huawei’s P-series will be upgraded to “Huawei Pura” and will depart with a new attitude.

This also means that the P70 that the market is paying attention to will be the beginning of Pura’s new series. As an important part of Huawei’s high-end smartphone product line, the P series has been in existence for 12 years since Huawei released the Ascend P1 in 2012. Especially since the P8-P10 period, Huawei has further made imaging a key feature of the P series.

Up to now, a core label of the P series is image performance, and the new Pura will continue to adhere to it. Richard Yu also stated that the Huawei P series smartphones were launched in 2012, and the development history of the Huawei P series is the history of mobile imaging. Huawei will continue to invest in innovation in mobile imaging.

New triangular camera island design and styling

In the product concept video released today, the camera language particularly emphasizes a “triangular shape”. In the industry’s view, the Huawei Pura70 series may adopt a brand new triangular camera island design.

Based on the currently disclosed information, the entire P70 series may be equipped with Kirin chips, support for 5G, 50Mp ultra large bottom main camera, periscope telephoto lens, satellite communication technology, etc.

In terms of batteries, lithium polymer batteries are used, and all models of batteries have exceeded 5000mAh. The standard version battery is 5000mAh, and the Pro version battery is 5200mAh. The entire series has super fast charging and wireless charging functions.

Huawei is restoring market share in the mobile phone market

Besides the product, the outside world also cares about the production capacity situation. According to multiple industry insiders, Huawei has been actively stocking the P70 series, and this year Huawei’s terminal product plans are also being promoted.

Last year, when Huawei released the P60 series, it stated that the release of the P60 series in the spring meant that Huawei’s product rhythm would return to normal. In the future, the P and M series would be released normally every year, and Huawei would not give up on overseas markets, stating that “Huawei’s global market is recovering.”.

Meanwhile, institutions are optimistic about the shipment volume of the P70 series. Some institutions predict that compared to the P60 series released in 2023, the shipment volume of the P70 series will have a significant increase in 2024. If the demand for replenishing mobile phone inventory is strong, P70 shipments are expected to increase by 230% to 13-15 million units; If demand slows down, it is also expected to reach a growth rate of 150% to 10-12 million units.

It is also stated that the biggest selling point of the P70 series is the use of a telephoto periscope. The P70 Art wide-angle camera uses a 1G6P wave plastic hybrid lens, which is 4-5 times more expensive than the 7P due to its use of molded glass.

From the market performance perspective, the enthusiastic response of the Mate 60 series last year also drove Huawei’s strong return in the smartphone industry. According to Canalys data, in the fourth quarter of 2023, Huawei shipped 10.4 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 47% in flagship new product shipments, returning to the top five domestic mobile phone manufacturers in terms of shipment volume and ranking fourth.

In addition, according to a report from Counterpoint Research, in the first six weeks of 2024, Huawei ranked fifth in China’s smartphone sales share ranking, with a significant year-on-year increase of 64%. Currently, the Huawei Mate 60 series continues to attract market demand. In terms of foldable screens, DSCC predicts that Huawei will surpass Samsung for the first time in the foldable smartphone market share in the first and second quarters of 2024.

As Huawei regains its lost ground in the mobile phone market, its terminal business has also returned to the growth track. The financial report shows that Huawei’s terminal business sales revenue in 2023 was 251.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.3%. This year, as Huawei continues to focus on the high-end market, new competitions will begin again.
